|:||The University Stuttgart Vaihingen Campus with its internationally successful and expandinginformatics research centre has gained additional space and at the same time a new event area 'The Informatics Forum Stuttgart' for its communication between science, industry and society. The three new institute buildings by German architects Hartwig Schneider combine the uniform geometric order in the construction grid and the façade structure constructed of prefabricated parts in modular reinforced concrete construction. The deep, wide-format window openings alternate with a high proportion of closed façade surfaces in order to reduce the solar inputs and at the same time to allow controlled cooling of the internal storage masses via the motorized oscillating windows. The Research Center for Computer Science joins a number of noteworthy buildings of the Stuttgart campus in terms of architectural quality. The Institute of Lightweight Structures by Frei Otto, the Mensa II of Atelier 5 and the Hysolar Research Institute of Günter Behnisch are just some of the significant university buildings that have been built here over the decades.|
