|:||Alsop designed a 16,000 sq m Urban Entertainment Centre for the young, and expanding, City of Almere. The Centre, which opened from 2003 onwards, is situated on the waterfront to the south of the city centre, and includes shops, restaurants, the Apollo Hotel and the Pop Zaal concert hall grouped around a new square. The 120-room hotel consists of a 4,000 sq m 'sleeping block' clad in cedar boarding and raised eight metres above street level on stilts, with a 400 sq m two-storey entrance bubble clad in brass. The neighbouring Pop Zaal is a striking organic shape, clad in pre-weathered zinc and steel mesh.|
